About the Role
The Expeditor is responsible for ensuring the timely delivery of materials, equipment and documentation from suppliers to the project site or production facility. Acting as the critical link between Procurement, Engineering, Project Management and suppliers, the successful candidate will proactively monitor purchase orders, identify potential delays and implement corrective actions to keep projects on schedule.
This role requires a highly organised individual with strong communication skills, supply chain knowledge and experience working within a fast-paced mining or construction environment.
Key Responsibilities
The successful candidate will be responsible for:
-Tracking and monitoring purchase orders from placement through to final delivery.
-Maintaining accurate and up-to-date purchase order tracking systems and databases.
-Liaising with vendors and manufacturers to obtain production updates, delivery schedules and shipping information.
-Identifying potential supply chain delays and escalating issues promptly.
-Working with suppliers to develop corrective action plans to minimise project delays.
-Collaborating with Engineering teams regarding drawing approvals and technical requirements.
-Coordinating with Quality Assurance and Quality Control teams to ensure inspection readiness.
-Working closely with Logistics teams to facilitate shipping, customs clearance and material deliveries.
-Supporting Project Management teams by ensuring procurement activities align with project schedules.
-Collecting and verifying shipping documentation, including invoices, packing lists, bills of lading and certificates of origin.
-Preparing and submitting regular expediting reports for management.
-Supporting continuous improvement initiatives within procurement and supply chain processes.
Minimum Requirements
Applicants must have:
-A Bachelor’s Degree in Supply Chain Management, Engineering or a related field.
-A Diploma in Logistics Management.
-MCIPS qualification or currently studying towards MCIPS (highly desirable).
-A valid Forklift Driving Licence.
-A minimum of 5 years’ experience in a similar role, preferably within the mining or construction industry.
-Basic procurement experience within the mining industry will be an added advantage.
-Experience working within an Enterprise Resource Planning (ERP) environment, particularly PRONTO.
