About the Role
The Botswana Defence Force is seeking highly motivated young men and women to join its Officer Cadet Programme. Selected candidates will receive internationally recognised military leadership training and academic education before being commissioned as officers.
Candidates sponsored to the United States will undertake Officer Cadet training and a four-year military degree programme at the prestigious Air Force Academy. Those sponsored to France will complete a three-year military programme at the French Officer Training School. Upon completion, officers will be expected to serve the Botswana Defence Force and be ready for deployment to different geographical locations and environmental conditions.
Key Responsibilities
Successful Officer Cadets will be expected to:
- Successfully complete military officer training.
- Demonstrate leadership, discipline and integrity at all times.
- Participate in academic and military development programmes.
- Maintain high standards of physical fitness and professionalism.
- Serve in various operational and leadership roles upon completion of training.
- Be available for deployment to different locations as required by the Botswana Defence Force.
Minimum Requirements
Applicants must possess:
-Botswana citizenship (dual citizenship is not permitted).
-A valid Botswana National Identity Card (Omang).
-A-Level qualifications with a minimum Grade B in Mathematics, Sciences and English Language; or
-BGCSE or equivalent with a minimum of 42 points and at least Grade B in Mathematics, Sciences and English Language.
-Fluency in French for candidates applying under the France sponsorship programme.
-Candidates for USA sponsorship must be between 18 and 23 years on 1 July 2027.
-Candidates for France sponsorship must be between 18 and 27 years.
-Good physical and mental health.
-No adverse criminal record.
-Minimum height of 160 cm for males and 155 cm for females.
-Minimum body weight of 55 kg for males and 45 kg for females.
-Female applicants must not be pregnant at the time of recruitment.
-Applicants must be unmarried and have no dependents or legal obligation to support children.
