Main Purpose of the Job

The primary purpose of the Night Watchman position is to:

Provide security services to Government premises at night.

Responsibilities

Successful candidates will be expected to:

• Maintain records of Government movable property taken into and out of the premises to help prevent theft.
• Search and record vehicles entering and leaving Government premises.
• Record suspicious occurrences in the security diary.
• Hoist and lower the National Flag at designated times.
• Check fences and enclosures for possible unauthorised access.
• Ensure fencing is in good condition and report defects to the supervisor.
• Report cases of theft to the supervising officer.
• Assist police with investigations where required.
• Ensure private property is not brought onto or kept within Government premises without prior authority.
• Check incoming and outgoing stores against vouchers and invoices.
• Maintain a gate register for visitors.
• Protect Government staff by preventing unstable or dangerous individuals from entering Government premises.
• Patrol Government premises and check that windows, doors and other access points are securely closed and locked.
• Perform any other related duties assigned by management.

Qualifications and Requirements

Previous employment as a security guard or Night Watchman is therefore not stated as mandatory.

Experience in security services will be an added advantage.
