Job Overview
The Fuel Assistant will support the safe handling, storage and dispensing of fuel for mining vehicles, heavy equipment and plant machinery. The successful candidate will help ensure accurate fuel records, maintain stock levels and support uninterrupted mining operations while complying with safety and environmental standards.
Key Responsibilities
The successful candidate will:
-Dispense fuel to light and heavy-duty vehicles, mining equipment and machinery.
-Accurately record all fuel issues, including vehicle details, operator information, meter readings and quantities dispensed.
-Assist with receiving and reconciling bulk fuel deliveries.
-Monitor fuel levels in storage tanks and mobile fuel bowsers.
-Maintain the cleanliness, safety and security of fuel storage and dispensing areas.
-Support daily and monthly fuel stock reconciliations and audits.
-Identify and report fuel leaks, spillages or irregular fuel usage.
-Comply with all Safety, Health, Environment and Quality (SHEQ) standards.
-Ensure proper storage and labelling of fuel and lubricants.
-Maintain fuel logbooks, delivery notes and fuel consumption records.
-Support planned maintenance shutdowns by ensuring equipment is fuelled on time.
-Participate in toolbox talks and safety briefings on hazardous material handling.
Minimum Requirements
Applicants should have:
- BGCSE Certificate.
- A Certificate in Logistics, Fuel Handling or a related field will be an added advantage.
- A minimum of 2 years’ experience in fuel handling, stock control or logistics support.
- Experience working around mobile plant equipment and in confined spaces.
- Experience on multi-functional mining sites or shutdown projects will be an advantage.
- Good communication and record-keeping skills.
- Ability to work safely in a mining environment.
- High attention to detail and commitment to safety procedures.
