Minimum Requirements
Applicants must have:
–BCom Accounting.
–ACCA, CIMA or an equivalent professional accounting qualification.
-Membership with BICA or another recognised international professional accounting body โ this is mandatory.
-At least 5โ8 years of relevant finance and accounting experience.
-Experience in financial reporting, audits, reconciliations, statutory compliance and financial controls.
-Strong understanding of International Financial Reporting Standards (IFRS).
-Sound knowledge of taxation principles, statutory compliance and financial governance.
-Advanced Microsoft Excel and financial modelling skills.
-Strong analytical, logical reasoning and problem-solving abilities.
-Excellent leadership, communication, interpersonal and stakeholder-management skills.
-High levels of integrity, professionalism, accuracy and attention to detail.
Experience managing financial operations within a multi-campus or multi-branch environment will be an added advantage.
Key Responsibilities
The successful candidate will:
- Manage and oversee financial operations across multiple campuses.
- Ensure financial processes and internal controls are standardised.
- Lead and supervise finance teams.
- Prepare and oversee monthly management accounts and financial statements.
- Manage reconciliations and management reporting.
- Monitor revenue processes and debtor collections.
- Oversee supplier payments, fixed assets and bank reconciliations.
- Manage cash-flow-related financial activities.
- Ensure compliance with taxation, statutory and regulatory requirements.
- Analyse financial and operational information to identify trends, risks and variances.
- Develop financial reporting models, dashboards and analytical tools.
- Coordinate internal and external audits.
- Ensure audit recommendations are implemented within the required timeframes.
- Liaise with auditors, tax authorities, banks, consultants and other external stakeholders.
- Support strategic financial planning and institutional growth initiatives.
- Assist with improving financial systems, policies and procedures.
- Provide leadership, mentorship and professional development to finance teams.
Technical Knowledge and Skills
Candidates should have knowledge or experience in:
- IFRS.
- Financial reporting.
- Financial modelling.
- Taxation and statutory compliance.
- Internal financial controls.
- Audit processes.
- Management accounting.
- Microsoft Excel.
- ERP financial systems.
- Student management systems.
- Financial data analysis and business intelligence.
Experience with systems such as Microsoft Dynamics 365 Business Central, Great Plains, Campus Nexus, Academia, or similar systems will be advantageous.
