Overview

Dis-Chem Pharmacies is offering an opportunity for Dispensary Support learners at its Steeledale store. This role is designed for individuals who want to complete the Learner Basic Pharmacist Assistant programme, gaining practical experience in a pharmacy environment with the potential for permanent employment upon qualification.


Key Responsibilities

– Assist with dispensing-related tasks under the supervision of a pharmacist

– Support the preparation and handling of non-sterile medicines

– Help with unpacking, organising, and merchandising dispensary stock

– Ensure accurate picking, packing, labelling, and checking of medication

– Maintain cleanliness and organisation of dispensary and OTC shelves

– Monitor stock levels and expiry dates and report discrepancies

– Assist with patient queries, script tracking, and follow-ups

– Support call centre functions and customer service activities

– Ensure compliance with pharmacy regulations and SOPs

– Provide general administrative and operational support within the dispensary


Requirements & Skills

  • Grade 12 (Matric) with:
    • Pure Mathematics (minimum 50%)
    • Life Sciences and/or Physical Science (minimum 50%)
  • Ability to pass a proficiency test for SAPC learner registration
  • Strong communication skills (English and a second language)
  • Good numerical and computer skills
  • Attention to detail and ability to work under pressure
  • Customer service orientation and teamwork ability

Advantageous

  • Previous retail or Dis-Chem experience
  • Knowledge of pharmacy systems (Unisolv, SAP, E-Scripting)
  • Understanding of pharmaceutical products and health-related services
