Overview

Dis-Chem is recruiting Cashiers and Casual Cashiers (22 posts) across multiple stores and talent pools. You’ll deliver a world-class checkout experience, process transactions accurately on the Dis-Chem operating system, safeguard cash, promote loyalty partners, and uphold 5-star communication and security standards.

Key Responsibilities

-Provide friendly, professional service; build positive customer relationships.

-Accurately transact purchases (cash, cards, vouchers, coupons, loyalty partners).

-Maintain cash integrity: manage float, drops, till balance; secure all funds and credentials.

-Action line voids/price changes with required approvals; process exchanges/returns where authorised.

-Promote current sales & promotions; meet hourly customer turnover targets.

-Process ClubCard and accelerator partner loyalty transactions.

-Ensure all outgoing items/scripts are scanned and paid.

-Apply 5-star communication principles; report compliments/complaints to Frontline Supervisor.

-Follow SOPs for health, safety, loss prevention and store security.

Minimum Requirements

Essential

-Grade 12 / Matric.

–6+ months cashier/till experience.

-Computer literate (MS Office); strong numeracy.

-Good command of English; basic customer service.

-Willing & able to work retail hours (shifts/weekends/public holidays).

Advantageous

-Additional South African language(s).

-Senior Cashier roles: prior frontline leadership advantageous.

Competencies

-Skilled in cash register operations; processing payments/refunds.

-Accuracy, attention to detail, time management, problem-solving.

-Presentable, trustworthy, accountable; strong EQ and social awareness.

-Able to analyse basic reports and follow SOPs precisely.

-South African citizen; clear credit & criminal records.
