Overview

Dis-Chem Pharmacies is currently recruiting Security Guards across multiple stores and talent pools nationwide. The purpose of the role is to provide professional security services in accordance with the Private Security Industry Regulations Act 56 of 2001 and Dis-Chemโ€™s security policies.

Successful candidates will help protect company assets, staff, and customers while maintaining a safe and secure environment within store premises.

Key Responsibilities

– Maintain a visible security presence to deter theft and criminal activity.

– Conduct regular patrols of the premises to monitor safety and security.

– Control and monitor access points for staff, suppliers, and customers.

– Perform searches on staff, vehicles, and goods where required.

– Monitor CCTV cameras, alarm systems, and emergency equipment.

– Record incidents, maintain occurrence books, and complete security registers.

– Report suspicious behaviour, incidents, or security risks to management.

– Assist with opening and closing procedures of the store.

– Ensure company assets and merchandise are protected at all times.

– Support emergency procedures and assist authorities when necessary.

Requirements & Skills

Minimum Requirements

  • Grade 12 (Matric) or Senior Certificate.
  • PSIRA Grade C accreditation and valid registration.
  • Minimum 3 yearsโ€™ experience in the retail or security industry (e.g., malls, retail stores, or warehouses).
  • Strong communication skills in English (written and spoken).

Advantageous

  • Previous experience working as a security guard in retail environments.

  • Professional conduct and strong customer service approach.

Special Conditions of Employment

  • Must be PSIRA registered with Grade C accreditation.
  • South African citizen.
  • Clear criminal and credit records.
  • Reliable transport or residence close to the workplace.
  • Valid driverโ€™s licence and PDP may be required if deployed as a driver.
