About the Role

Dis-Chem Pharmacies is seeking a Security Guard to provide professional security services in compliance with the Private Security Industry Regulations Act 56 of 2001, ensuring the protection of company assets, property, customers, and employees. The ideal candidates will maintain a safe environment by preventing theft, damage, and unlawful activity within store premises.


Key Responsibilities

– Conduct regular patrols to maintain visibility and deter criminal activity.

– Monitor and control access to store premises for vehicles, suppliers, and visitors.

– Identify and report suspicious activities, damages, or security breaches.

– Perform searches of staff, suppliers, and delivery personnel as required.

– Ensure all doors, windows, and exits are secured after operating hours.

– Maintain detailed records in registers and occurrence books.

– Assist with refuse removal checks and opening/closing procedures.

– Respond swiftly to emergencies, alarms, and safety incidents.

– Collaborate with management, police, or emergency teams when necessary.

– Provide friendly and professional assistance to customers and staff while on duty.


Minimum Requirements

Essential:

  • Matric / Grade 12 or Senior Certificate.
  • PSIRA Grade C registration (valid and active).
  • Minimum 3 yearsโ€™ experience in a retail security environment (malls, warehouses, or stores).

Advantageous:

  • 1 year of experience in a similar role within retail or FMCG.
  • Valid Driverโ€™s Licence and PDP (if deployed as a driver).

Skills & Competencies

  • Strong observation and communication skills.
  • Knowledge of PSIRA regulations and Health & Safety standards.
  • Integrity, professionalism, and reliability under pressure.
  • English literacy (reading, writing, and speaking).
  • Attention to detail and adherence to procedures.

Advantageous:

  • Proficiency in a third language.

Special Conditions of Employment
