Overview
Cashbuild, South Africaโs leading retailer of building materials and associated products, is recruiting Cashiers (External Applications Only) for stores nationwide. These roles are ideal for enthusiastic individuals looking to start a career in retail. Full training will be provided, and no prior experience is required.
As a Cashier, you will play a vital role in ensuring accurate point-of-sale transactions, excellent customer service, and adherence to store safety and security policies.
Key Responsibilities
- Cash Handling
- Process customer purchases accurately on the POS system.
- Balance all cash, floats, and petty cash allocated.
- Ensure all takings are dropped safely into the vault/drop safe.
- Conduct cash-ups at end of shifts.
- Customer Service
- Provide fast, friendly, and efficient service to all customers.
- Direct customers to relevant staff for further assistance.
- Adhere to company dress code and present yourself professionally.
- Administration
- Sign, compile, and file documentation related to cashier duties.
- Process all transactions related to deliveries, other storesโ money, and quotations correctly.
- Safety & Security
- Comply with Occupational Health & Safety regulations.
- Ensure till passwords and cash-handling procedures are secure.
- Report discrepancies to the Store Manager promptly.
Requirements
- Education: Grade 12 (Matric) OR equivalent (preferred but not essential).
- Experience: No prior experience required โ training will be provided.
- Skills:
- Basic numeracy and ability to perform simple calculations.
- Good communication in English and one other local language.
- Ability to work under pressure in a busy retail environment.
- Flexibility: Willing to work shifts, weekends, and public holidays.
