Available Positions:
1) Air Traffic Services (ATS) Bursary Program
Location: Kempton Park (Aviation Training Academy) โข Apply by: 31 Jan 2026 โข Contract: Fixed Term (training)
Purpose: 117 bursary opportunities across four intakes to study ATS streams at the Aviation Training Academy (ATSO, AIMO, TGO, AMC Liaison, SSO).
Minimum: Matric with Pure Maths (Lvl 4 / HG-D / SG-C+) & English (Lvl 4 / HG-D / SG-C+); SA citizen with valid ID; medically fit for ATSO stream; attach Grade 12 results; willing to relocate; unemployed SA youth; not previously on a similar ATNS programme.
Key: Extensive training and exposure to air traffic management; placement aligned to ATNS operational needs.
2) Procurement Specialist (x4) โ 12 months FTC
Location: Bedfordview โข Apply by: 17 Sep 2025 โข Contract: Fixed Term โข Remuneration: Market related
Purpose: Enforce procurement & B-BBEE policies; ensure PFMA and regulatory compliance; optimise supplier base and value-for-money sourcing.
Minimum: B Degree/BTech in Supply Chain Management (or related); 4โ6 yrs procurement; โฅ3 yrs public procurement (PFMA/PPPFA/BBBEE).
Key: Supplier criteria & database; B-BBEE stats & reporting; proficiency assessments/audits; tendering & volume purchases; negotiations for terms/prices; supplier performance reviews; system enhancements.
3) Senior Systems Support โ FACT
Location: Western Cape (Cape Town) โข Apply by: 18 Sep 2025 โข Contract: Permanent
Purpose: Administer and maintain back-end IT systems & servers in the Cape Town server room and nationally as required.
Minimum: National Diploma in IT (or equivalent); Certifications in IT Infrastructure & Cloud Services, ITIL (Linux an advantage); 5 yrs IT (incl. 3 yrs senior systems support).
Key: Upgrades/patching; cloud services; collaboration suites; escalation point for End User Support; manage & monitor AD, hypervisors, storage, servers, backups, file/print across ATNS; SLA monitoring; DRP/backup administration; ISO/ITIL compliance; security events & domain policies; project implementations & UAT.
4) Procurement Officer (x4) โ 12 months FTC
Location: Bedfordview โข Apply by: 17 Sep 2025 โข Contract: Fixed Term โข Remuneration: Market related
Purpose: Deliver an efficient procurement function for assets, goods and services.
Minimum: National Diploma in SCM (or equivalent); 3 yrs procurement experience.
Key: Stakeholder engagement; RFQs, evaluations, POs & expediting; records & reports; reconcile PO to delivery/invoice; tender admin; PFMA/PPPFA/BBBEE compliance; procurement stats & supplier BBBEE tracking; resolve end-user queries; maintain supplier database (Oracle).
5) International ATS Instructor โ FTC (5 years)
Location: Kempton Park (Aviation Training Academy) โข Apply by: 30 Sep 2025 โข Peromnes: Grade 9
Purpose: Provide ATS-specific and generic training & development to clients per ICAO and internal standards.
Minimum: Matric; Bachelorโs preferred; completed ICAO-approved rating courses; Train-the-Trainer (ICAO); Assessor & Moderator certificates; ICAO ELP level 5.
Experience: 10+ yrs ATC licence (Area/Approach Proc/Surv); 5+ yrs ATS Instructor licence; simulator ops & scenario design (e.g., TopSky/ATC Coach); 5 yrs assessor/moderator; course development (CBTA) advantageous.
6) Specialist Technology Communications โ FACT
Location: Cape Town โข Apply by: 14 Sep 2025 โข Contract: Permanent โข Remuneration: Market related
Purpose: Ensure CNS systems enable ATC/ATM; provide 3rd-line support (DR, test & evaluation, simulator datasets) and technical fault management.
Minimum: BSc/BEng (Electronic/Electrical/Computer Science) or NHDip/B-Tech; ECSA and postgrad advantageous.
Experience: 5+ yrs high-tech electronic engineering; CNS/ATM planning/specification/implementation/support; multi-rated ATC environment understanding; specialised ATM/CNS architecture & R&D knowledge.
Key: System design & architecture; FAT/SAT participation; capacity planning; national/international 3rd-line support; change control & versioning; radar flight trials; testing methods; SACAA/ICAO compliance; technology research/white papers; process optimisation; external customer solutions & training; stakeholder relations.
7) Specialist Technology Display Systems โ FACT
Location: Cape Town โข Apply by: 14 Sep 2025 โข Contract: Permanent โข Remuneration: Market related
Purpose: As above, focused on ATC/ATM display systems with 3rd-line support, DR, test & evaluation, simulator datasets and fault management.
Minimum/Experience/Key: Same structure as Role #6, with emphasis on display systems architecture, capacity and performance optimisation, and MMS configuration integrity.
8) Obstacle Evaluator
Location: Bedfordview (Bruma) โข Apply by: 30 Sep 2025 โข Contract: Permanent โข Peromnes: Grade 10
Purpose: Evaluate impact of obstacles on Annex 14 OLS in South Africa, ensure compliance with ICAO & national regulations, and manage documentation/archiving.
Minimum: Aeronautical Obstacle Assessment Course or PANS-OPS/Flight Procedure Design; Grade 12 with Maths & Science; AIS Core Content Course; 2 yrs obstacle assessment.
Key: Conduct Obstacle Evaluations (Annex 14/15 eTOD, Doc 8168 Vol II, Doc 9137 Part 6, PANS-OPS); produce Annex 14/15 and PANS-OPS drawings & KMZs; data integrity & ISO filing; eTOD/DTM maintenance; Smart Charting/CAD; stakeholder liaison; research & compliance with SA-CARs.

9) Instructor: Air Traffic Services

Purpose: Deliver ATS training per approved syllabi, QMS and client needs.
Minimum: ATS qualification per ATNS policy; OJT qualification (approved institution); Train-the-Trainer advantageous; Assessor/Moderator advantageous.
Experience: โฅ2 yrs post-validation as a validated ATC.
Key: Course administration & programme approvals; conduct training, tests & assessments; continuation training; R&D and client needs analysis; QMS-aligned evaluation & feedback.
10) Demand Specialist (x2) โ 12 months FTC
Location: Bedfordview โข Apply by: 17 Sep 2025 โข Contract: Fixed Term โข Remuneration: Market related
Purpose: Drive demand & tender preparation to ensure stable, compliant supply chain operations and transformation objectives.
Minimum: B Degree/National Diploma in SCM (or equivalent); 4โ6 yrs procurement with PFMA/PPPFA/BBBEE knowledge.
Key: Maintain supplier DB & BBBEE scores; engage stakeholders for needs; develop tender documents; monitor Bid Spec & workflows; legislative compliance; BBBEE/SMME/local content & transformation support; procurement policies implementation; reporting.
11) ATCO1, ATCO2 & ATCO3 โ Approach & Area (Open Ad)
Location: Johannesburg (FAOR) & Cape Town (FACT) โข Apply by: 30 Sep 2025 โข Contract: Permanent โข Peromnes: Grade 9
Purpose: Provide Tower & Approach Procedural/Radar ATC services to ensure safe, orderly and expeditious flow of air traffic; alerting service & SAR coordination.
Minimum: Valid ATCO1, ATCO2 and ATCO3 Approach & Area ratings; โฅ2 yrs as Aerodrome/Approach/Area Controller; valid Class 3 medical.
Key: Separation standards, FIS, coordination across ATSUs/sectors, equipment setup/checks, emergency assistance & NOTAM actions, SMS/QMS/SSI/CATS & CARS compliance, continuation training & assessments; potential OJTI/DE duties.
12) Specialist Technology Display Systems โ FAOR
Location: Kempton Park โข Apply by: 14 Sep 2025 โข Contract: Permanent โข Remuneration: Market related
Purpose: Ensure CNS display systems support ATC/ATM; provide 3rd-line support, DR, testing/evaluation, simulator datasets and technical fault management.
Minimum/Experience/Key: Same as Role #7, tailored to FAOR operations and inter-regional coordination.
