Overview

MCE Electric, a trusted name in the electrical and electronic management industry, is seeking a Storeman to join its Inventory & Stock Control Unit in Johannesburg.

The ideal candidate will be reliable, detail-oriented, and physically fit, with a strong sense of responsibility and teamwork. This position plays a key role in ensuring that warehouse operations run efficiently, with accurate stock management, proper organisation, and adherence to company procedures.


Key Responsibilities

– Receive, offload, and sort incoming stock according to warehouse procedures.

– Accurately transfer items to designated bin locations and storage shelves.

– Ensure proper stock rotation (FIFO) to prevent expiry or obsolescence.

– Load and offload stock for daily operations, deliveries, and inter-branch transfers.

– Maintain clean, organised, and well-labeled storage areas, including mezzanine spaces.

– Apply barcode stickers to products and shelving as required.

– Assist with stock-taking, cycle counts, and reporting discrepancies.

– Help pickers locate missing stock to ensure timely order fulfilment.

– Isolate and report damaged or defective stock to the supervisor or stock controller.

– Prepare courier trucks and assist drivers with delivery loads.

– Respond to internal queries about stock availability and location.

– Support the warehouse team with ad hoc duties, including picking and packing.


Requirements & Skills

Minimum Requirements:

  • Matric / Grade 12 or equivalent qualification.
  • Prior experience in a warehouse or stock handling environment (advantageous but not required).
  • Forklift licence (advantageous).
  • Physically fit and capable of lifting and moving heavy items.

Core Competencies:

  • Basic knowledge of stock control and warehouse operations.
  • Understanding of stock rotation principles (FIFO).
  • Excellent organisational and time management skills.
  • Attention to detail and accuracy in handling inventory.
  • Ability to work independently and as part of a team.
  • Good communication skills and a proactive work ethic.
  • Ability to safely use manual handling equipment (trolleys, pallet jacks, etc.).
