Job Overview

Dis-Chem Pharmacies is building a Security Guard Talent Pool across Gauteng and the Western Cape. The successful candidates will be responsible for providing professional security services in line with the Private Security Industry Regulation Act (PSIRA), ensuring the safety of staff, customers, assets, and property while maintaining a secure retail environment.

Minimum Requirements

Essential

Grade 12 / Matric or Senior Certificate
Grade C PSIRA accreditation
PSIRA registration (valid)
Minimum 3 years’ exposure in the retail security environment (shopping malls, warehouses, or similar)

Advantageous

1 year or more experience in a similar security role
Additional language proficiency

Key Responsibilities

– Conduct regular patrols of store premises to deter criminal activity

– Monitor and control access points for staff, customers, suppliers, and vehicles

– Identify, investigate, and report suspicious behaviour or incidents

– Perform staff, supplier, and vehicle searches in line with SOPs

– Maintain accurate occurrence books, registers, and incident reports

– Enforce Dis-Chem security rules and procedures

– Ensure opening and closing procedures are followed correctly

– Monitor alarm systems, CCTV, and emergency equipment

– Respond promptly and appropriately to emergencies, disturbances, or threats

– Liaise with law enforcement and emergency services when required

– Assist with evacuations and crowd control during emergencies

– Provide professional, courteous service to customers and staff

– Protect company assets against theft, damage, or unlawful activity

Competencies & Skills

Essential

Strong knowledge of PSIRA regulations
Fire emergency and basic Health & Safety awareness
Good English communication skills (read, write, speak)
High level of alertness, discipline, and integrity

Advantageous

Third language
Retail security systems experience

Special Conditions of Employment

Valid PSIRA registration (Grade C minimum)
South African citizen
Clear criminal and credit record (MIE)
Willing to work shifts, weekends, and public holidays
Driver’s licence, own reliable transport, and PDP (if deployed as a driver)
