Overview of the Role

The Classroom Assistant will support the class teacher in creating an engaging, nurturing, and developmentally appropriate learning environment. The role requires a passion for early childhood development and a genuine love for working with young children.

Key Responsibilities

– Assist the teacher with all daily classroom duties

– Support the schoolโ€™s ethos and uphold its values

– Help prepare learners holistically for the next grade

– Assist with school readiness and developmental activities

– Conduct ongoing informal assessments and assist with feedback to parents

– Work collaboratively with the teaching team to ensure a well-functioning classroom

– Support and follow a well-structured daily programme

– Participate in school events, functions, and activities throughout the year

– Use play-based, informal learning techniques to support learner development

– Engage learners actively in all learning activities

Skills & Competencies

  • Warm, caring approach with excellent rapport with young children
  • Strong communication and interpersonal skills
  • Energetic, self-motivated, and able to take initiative
  • Reliable team player with strong organisational skills
  • Passionate about early childhood learning and development

Minimum Requirements

  • Matric / Grade 12
  • Experience working with young children in a similar role or environment
