Job Overview

Dis-Chem Pharmacies is seeking an experienced and customer-focused Cashier to join the team at the La Lucia store. The successful candidate will be responsible for providing efficient point-of-sale service while ensuring accuracy, compliance with company procedures, and a consistently positive customer experience.

Key Responsibilities

– Process all customer transactions accurately using the Dis-Chem operating system

– Deliver professional and friendly customer service at all times

– Handle cash, cards, vouchers, coupons, and other approved payment methods

– Ensure correct scanning and payment of all outgoing stock and items

– Manage daily cash flow and ensure secure handling of all takings

– Place cash in the drop safe in accordance with Dis-Chem SOPs

– Process returns and exchanges when authorised

– Maintain awareness of current promotions and sales initiatives

– Report customer feedback, complaints, and compliments to management

– Monitor and report suspicious behaviour or security risks

– Adhere strictly to Dis-Chemโ€™s customer service, security, and operational policies

Minimum Requirements

  • Grade 12 / Matric
  • Minimum of 6 monthsโ€™ cashier or till operation experience
  • Computer literacy (MS Office)
  • Strong numerical ability and attention to detail
  • Good command of the English language
  • Basic customer service skills
  • Willingness to work retail hours, including weekends

  • Knowledge of sales processing, refunds, and payments
