Job Overview

Dis-Chem Pharmacies is recruiting Merchandisers and Health Merchandisers to ensure store merchandising standards are consistently maintained while delivering excellent customer service. These roles are ideal for entry-level candidates as well as individuals with retail or FMCG experience looking to grow within a leading national retail brand.

Minimum Requirements

Essential

Grade 12 / Matric
Up to 6 months retail experience
Computer literate (MS Office)
Willing and able to work retail hours

Advantageous

1 year or more retail/FMCG experience
Product or category knowledge
Bilingual ability

Key Responsibilities

– Restock merchandise to ensure full product availability and maximum sales

– Ensure stock is correctly packed, stored, and displayed

– Monitor sell-by dates and rotate stock using FIFO principles

– Maintain neat, visible shelves with accurate labels and pricing

– Build, face up, and maintain merchandising displays

– Report low stock, damaged, expired, or out-of-stock items to management

– Assist with stock counts, stocktaking, and back shopping

– Adhere to planograms, store layouts, and Dis-Chem merchandising standards

– Assist with loading and off-loading of stock

– Provide friendly, professional customer service and product advice

– Follow up on customer stock queries and resolve them timeously

– Assist with training of new staff when required

– Minimise losses through careful handling of merchandise

– Adhere strictly to Dis-Chem policies, SOPs, and health & safety regulations

Competencies & Skills

Essential

Strong command of the English language
Excellent time management and attention to detail
Honest, trustworthy, and presentable
Strong customer engagement skills

Advantageous

Knowledge of FMCG merchandising standards
Ability to analyse ZMORE reports for ordering and stock control
Product and category knowledge

Special Conditions of Employment

Willing and able to work retail hours (including weekends & public holidays)
Physically fit and able to lift and move stock safely
Reliable transport and/or reside close to the store
South African citizen
Clear criminal and credit record
