Job Overview
Dis-Chem Pharmacies is looking for a reliable and detail-oriented Packer to join the Canal Walk (Century City) store. The successful candidate will support store operations by ensuring the accurate receiving, sorting, and packing of stock in line with Dis-Chemโs standard operating procedures and customer service requirements.
This role is ideal for individuals who are physically fit, organised, and comfortable working in a fast-paced retail environment.
Minimum Requirements
Essential
- Grade 12 / Matric
- At least 6 monthsโ retail receiving or packing experience
- Basic mathematical skills
- Computer literacy (MS Office)
- Willingness to work retail hours
Key Responsibilities
– Remove stock from supplier delivery vehicles safely and efficiently
– Verify that received stock matches delivery documentation
– Sort and pack products correctly onto pallets or store shelves
– Handle stock carefully to minimise damage and personal injury
– Identify and report discrepancies such as damaged goods, incorrect labels, or shortages
– Assist the Receiving Clerk with stock checking and verification
– Complete required administrative forms for damages or incidents in line with SOPs
– Maintain a clean, organised, and safe receiving and packing area
Skills & Competencies
- Knowledge of basic logistics, distribution, or supply chain processes
- Good reading comprehension and command of English
- Strong attention to detail and accuracy
- Honest, trustworthy, and dependable
- Ability to work well within a team
Special Conditions of Employment
- Willing and able to work retail hours, including weekends and public holidays
- Physically fit and able to lift and move heavy boxes safely
- Reliable transport or residence close to the store
