Overview

Ackermans is hiring energetic Shop Assistants / Cashiers (P27 roles) to join our store teams across multiple Gauteng locations.

As a Shop Assistant/Cashier, you will play a key role in creating a positive shopping experience — ensuring shelves are stocked, displays are neat, and transactions are processed accurately. Key Responsibilities

1. Customer Service

Deliver excellent customer service to ensure a great shopping experience.
Assist customers in finding products and handling queries or complaints professionally.

2. Cashier Duties

Operate tills efficiently — process cash, card, Lay-by, and refund transactions.
Balance tills and report any discrepancies to the Supervisor.

3. Merchandising & Stock

Ensure all stock is priced, displayed, and replenished accurately.
Keep the sales floor neat, tidy, and aligned with visual merchandising standards.
Stay updated on current promotions and product availability.

4. Risk & Security

Tag all products according to company policy.
Participate in stock counts and report any suspicious activity or shoplifting to Management.

5. Values & Compliance

Uphold Ackermans’ values, policies, and procedures in all interactions.
Maintain a high standard of personal presentation and professionalism.

Knowledge, Skills & Experience

– Excellent customer service and communication skills (English required; other languages beneficial).

– Energetic, tenacious, and goal-driven.

– Previous retail or cashier experience will be advantageous.

– High level of motivation, accuracy, and attention to detail.

– Ability to work retail hours, including weekends and public holidays.
