Overview

Weโ€™re hiring Bakers & Confectioners (x10) across multiple provinces to join our dynamic in-store bakery teams.
If you have a passion for baking, creativity in crafting delicious goods, and the ability to work in a fast-paced retail environment, this opportunity is for you!

Youโ€™ll be responsible for preparing, baking, and presenting high-quality bakery items, ensuring shelves are always stocked with fresh products and customers are delighted with every visit.


Key Responsibilities

– Follow recipes accurately and maintain product consistency.

– Prepare doughs, batters, and pastries according to established standards.

– Operate baking equipment such as ovens, mixers, and dough sheeters.

– Follow a daily and weekly production schedule to ensure all bakery items are always available.

– Take weekly stock counts and report ingredient shortages promptly.

– Place orders with approved suppliers for replenishment when required.

– Assist in creating new recipe templates for innovative bakery products.

– Maintain cleanliness and organization in all work areas.

– Ensure all baked goods meet food safety, hygiene, and presentation standards.

– Work efficiently during early shifts or busy periods to meet store demand.

– Support the team with special orders and seasonal product preparation.


Minimum Requirements

  • Matric / Grade 12 (essential).
  • Proven experience as a Baker, Confectioner, or Pastry Assistant in a retail or production bakery.
  • Fluent in English (Afrikaans advantageous).
  • Must reside within 25km of the chosen store.
  • Clear criminal record.
  • Ability to work shifts, including weekends and public holidays.
  • Strong attention to detail and commitment to hygiene standards.

Preferred Attributes

  • South African citizens aged 18โ€“65 years.
  • A passion for baking and food preparation.
  • Reliable, punctual, and able to handle early morning or long shifts.
  • Strong teamwork and communication skills.
  • Able to thrive in a high-pressure, customer-facing environment.
  • Creative flair with a focus on quality and presentation.
