Locations: Gauteng, Western Cape, Eastern Cape, and beyond (including Johannesburg South, Randburg, Sandton, Ottery, Soneike, Sunnydale, Brackenfell, Jeffreys Bay, George, Gqeberha, Menlyn, Midrand, Tokai & Waterkloof Ridge)
Position Type: Permanent – Full-Time
Work Schedule: 8 hours per day (Shifts, including weekends and public holidays)

We’re hiring General Assistants and Counterhands (x30) across South Africa to join a trusted retail team that values service excellence, teamwork, and a positive shopping experience.

Key Responsibilities

– Greet and assist customers in locating items and answering product-related questions.

– Operate the till or POS system when required, handling payments accurately.

– Refill shelves and fridges, ensuring all products are neatly displayed and well-stocked.

– Maintain cleanliness and hygiene in all areas, including the shop floor, counters, and storerooms.

– Handle deliveries, unpack stock, and ensure items are correctly priced and rotated.

– Support the Hot Foods, Bakery, Butchery, Cheese & Deli, and Fruit & Veg departments as needed.

– Remove waste safely and maintain a clean working environment.

– Promote store specials and assist customers with product information.

– Uphold safety, hygiene, and store security standards.

– Assist during stock takes and follow store procedures efficiently.

Minimum Requirements

Grade 12 / Matric (essential).
Previous experience as a General Assistant, Counterhand, or General Worker (advantageous).
Must reside within 25km of the store location you’re applying for.
Clear criminal record.
Willingness to work flexible shifts, including weekends and public holidays.
Physically fit to handle lifting, restocking, and cleaning duties.

Preferred Attributes

South African citizen.
Candidates aged 18–35 years preferred.
Strong communication and teamwork skills.
Positive, friendly, and customer-oriented personality.
Reliable, punctual, and able to multitask in a fast-paced retail environment.
