Key Responsibilities
– Prepare and cook menu items as instructed by the Head Chef or Sous Chef.
– Set up and stock kitchen stations with the required ingredients and utensils.
– Prepare food components such as sauces, vegetables, or proteins ahead of service.
– Ensure all dishes are cooked and presented to high standards.
– Maintain a clean and sanitized kitchen environment according to hygiene regulations.
– Store ingredients properly to ensure maximum freshness and minimize waste.
– Follow all food safety, nutrition, and sanitation guidelines.
– Cooperate with the rest of the kitchen team to ensure efficient service.
– Assist in menu development, special dishes, and stock management where required.
– Work flexibly across trading and non-trading hours, including weekends and holidays.
Minimum Requirements
- Grade 12 / Matric (essential).
- Previous experience as a Cook or Sushi Chef (minimum 1โ2 years preferred).
- Must reside within 25km of the store location youโre applying for.
- Clear criminal record.
- Excellent communication and teamwork skills.
- Physically fit and comfortable working in a high-pressure kitchen environment.
Preferred Attributes
- South African citizen.
- Candidates aged 25โ40 years preferred.
- Strong culinary passion and willingness to learn new techniques.
- Ability to manage time effectively and deliver quality under pressure.
- Knowledge of food hygiene and safety procedures.
