Key Responsibilities

– Prepare and cook menu items as instructed by the Head Chef or Sous Chef.

– Set up and stock kitchen stations with the required ingredients and utensils.

– Prepare food components such as sauces, vegetables, or proteins ahead of service.

– Ensure all dishes are cooked and presented to high standards.

– Maintain a clean and sanitized kitchen environment according to hygiene regulations.

– Store ingredients properly to ensure maximum freshness and minimize waste.

– Follow all food safety, nutrition, and sanitation guidelines.

– Cooperate with the rest of the kitchen team to ensure efficient service.

– Assist in menu development, special dishes, and stock management where required.

– Work flexibly across trading and non-trading hours, including weekends and holidays.


Minimum Requirements

  • Grade 12 / Matric (essential).
  • Previous experience as a Cook or Sushi Chef (minimum 1โ€“2 years preferred).
  • Must reside within 25km of the store location youโ€™re applying for.
  • Clear criminal record.
  • Excellent communication and teamwork skills.
  • Physically fit and comfortable working in a high-pressure kitchen environment.

Preferred Attributes

  • South African citizen.
  • Candidates aged 25โ€“40 years preferred.
  • Strong culinary passion and willingness to learn new techniques.
  • Ability to manage time effectively and deliver quality under pressure.
  • Knowledge of food hygiene and safety procedures.
