Overview

  1. Artisan Apprentice (Millwright) โ€“ based in Oranjesig, Free State
  2. Artisan Millwright โ€“ based in Port Elizabeth, Eastern Cape

These roles provide an opportunity to either begin your engineering career through a structured apprenticeship programme or advance your technical expertise as a qualified Millwright within a respected national company.


1. Artisan Apprentice โ€“ Oranjesig (Free State)

Programme Overview
Join Cloverโ€™s 4-Year Millwright Apprenticeship Programme and take the first step towards a long-term technical career. This structured training initiative combines classroom learning with on-the-job experience at Cloverโ€™s state-of-the-art manufacturing facilities.

Key Responsibilities

– Complete both theoretical and practical modules required for trade qualification.

– Attend accredited training institutions and achieve all learning outcomes.

– Gain hands-on experience in maintenance, production, and plant operations.

– Participate in subjects including Maintenance Theory, Dairy Technology, and Productivity.

– Prepare and complete the Millwright Trade Test at Cloverโ€™s approved Training Centre.

Minimum Requirements

  • Grade 12 / National Senior Certificate (NQF 4) with:
    • Mathematics (minimum 60%) โ€“ Maths Literacy not accepted.
    • Physical Science (minimum 60%).
  • N4 Electrical or Mechanical Engineering qualification (advantageous).
  • Strong analytical, technical, and problem-solving ability.
  • Reliable, disciplined, and eager to learn.
  • Practical experience in a production or maintenance setting will be an advantage.

2. Artisan Millwright โ€“ Port Elizabeth (Eastern Cape)

Role Overview
As a qualified Millwright, you will be responsible for maintaining, repairing, and improving production machinery and utilities within Cloverโ€™s high-performance manufacturing plant. This role requires hands-on technical skill, proactive problem-solving, and adherence to safety standards.

Key Responsibilities

  • Perform electrical and mechanical maintenance on production and packaging equipment.
  • Conduct preventative maintenance and ensure minimal downtime.
  • Troubleshoot breakdowns and implement effective solutions.
  • Maintain accurate maintenance records and ensure compliance with safety protocols.
  • Support continuous improvement and equipment efficiency initiatives.

Minimum Requirements

  • Recognised Millwright Trade Test Certificate.
  • 3โ€“5 yearsโ€™ experience in a manufacturing or FMCG environment.
  • Strong knowledge of PLC systems, hydraulics, pneumatics, and plant automation.
  • Good communication, teamwork, and problem-solving skills.
  • Willingness to work shifts, standby, and overtime as needed.
