Overview

The Botswana Defence Force (BDF) invites applications from qualified Botswana citizens to join as Recruit Privates. This limited intake offers a unique opportunity to serve your nation with honour, integrity, and dedication under the banner โ€œBe the Shield of the Nation.โ€

Successful candidates will undergo 6 months of Basic Military Training and thereafter be deployed to various operational environments across Botswana and beyond.


Qualifications

  • Minimum: BGCSE or equivalent with at least 24 points.
  • Additional advantage: Associate Degree / Higher Diploma or equivalent.
  • Not eligible: Bachelorโ€™s Degree holders.

Entry Requirements

  1. Must be a Botswana citizen (male or female) with a valid Omang (National ID card).
  2. Age between 18โ€“24 years.
  3. Physically and mentally fit according to BDF medical standards.
  4. No criminal record.
  5. Minimum height: 160 cm (Males); 155 cm (Females).
  6. Minimum weight: 55 kg (Males); 45 kg (Females).
  7. Female candidates must not be pregnant at the time of selection and training.
  8. Tattoos must be fully covered by uniform and not promote extremism, indecency, sexism, or racism.
  9. Candidates must pass the full selection process:
    • Physical fitness assessment
    • Comprehensive medical examination
    • Aptitude test
    • Security clearance
