Overview

Dis-Chem Pharmacies Limited is seeking motivated and customer-focused individuals to join their team as Cashiers across various stores nationwide. This role is an excellent opportunity for entry-level candidates to start a career in retail with one of South Africa’s leading pharmacy groups. Successful applicants will support customer service at the point of sale, ensuring a seamless and world-class shopping experience while accurately processing transactions.

No prior experience is required, as full training will be provided.

Key Responsibilities

Deliver excellent customer service at the point of sale.
Process all sales transactions accurately and efficiently, including cash, card, vouchers, and loyalty programs.
Follow company standard operating procedures and maintain a high level of accuracy.
Maintain a clean and organized checkout area.
Be knowledgeable about current promotions and sales to assist customers effectively.
Handle returns, exchanges, and refunds in line with company policies.
Ensure the security of cash and confidential handling of daily takings.
Report any irregularities, suspicious behavior, or customer feedback to the supervisor or management.
Support the implementation of Dis-Chem’s 5-star customer communication principles.

Requirements and Skills

Essential:

Grade 12 / Matric qualification.
Basic numerical and literacy skills.
Good command of the English language.
Customer service orientation and willingness to learn.
Ability to work flexible retail hours, including weekends and public holidays.
South African citizenship or valid work permit.

Advantageous:

Knowledge of a second or third South African language.
Familiarity with basic computer systems.
